Mladečské Caves

Location: Litovel, Olomouc region
Length of the route: 350 meters
Length of the tour: 40 minutes

The Mladečské Caves are located not far from the protected landscape area of Litovelské Pomoraví. This complicated labyrinth of corridors and chambers was created in the limestone Třesín hill. The underground spaces are richly decorated with dripstones and sinter bulges. Some of the most beautiful areas are the Nature’s Temple and the Virgin Cave. The caves have been known to mankind since ancient times and are an exceptionally important paleontological and archeological location. In addition to the bones of now-extinct Pleistocene vertebrates, many human skeletons have been found here dating to the Early Stone Age, together with abundant evidence of their activities (stone tools and fireplaces).
