Jeseník
Town
The town of Jeseník is situated in the furthermost northern part of the Olomouc region. It was founded in the first half of the 13th century on the merchant route between Moravia and Poland. It became famous for gold mining and production of damask, as well as its Silesian marble. But it became ever better known for its spas. In 1820, Vincent Priessnitz founded the Jeseník spas. He discovered the healing effects of the local cold springs. The health resort specializes in the treatment of respiratory diseases and disorders of the motor and nervous systems. On the slopes of Studniční vrch near the spa complex, there are 60 curative springs. The proximity of the Jeseníky Mountains offers an ideal way to relax either in winter or in summer.
Treatments
The microclimate, combined with water treatments are suitable for respiratory diseases, circulation disorders, thyroid diseases, psychical and gynecological disorders and skin diseases. Special individualized programs are available for the treatment of motor system disorders.

Personages, dates, history
*In 1820, Vincent Priessnitz set up the spa program based on the effects of cold spring water. He combined water treatments with climate-therapy and diet.
*Best-known spa building is the Priessnitz House. Architect Bauer built it in 1910.
*Dr. Josef Reinhold made Jeseník world-famous with the treatment of neuro-psychiatric diseases.
